The last thing that I was envious about was a fellow and his wife I
met that was still driving the Pennant blue 1955 Corvette that he and
his new bride bought new to go on their Honeymoon. They had just
returned from a plant tour and NCM to attend a parade in their home
town of Marshall Mi. on Memorial Day. A grueling 1,000 mile trip for
them I`m sure at the age of 74 that they took 2 weeks to complete.
They were excited about their trip and were dressed in their wedding
clothes. Neat people to talk with and they shared their life`s
adventure easily and with pride. People like that make enduring the
jerks a bit easier.
If in another 7 years I can do anything close to that I`ll not even
envy that.

I think the `wave` is in better shape than the Porsche hi-beam `flick.`
Over 90% of my waves are returned from any Corvette. Car vintage seems
to not be a factor. The failures seem to be more age (sub-GenX) related
regardless of car vintage. I think the marque is alive and well and the
youngsters will mature and gain `wave responsibility.` Some of our
youngsters may be regarding their `vette as just a material status symbol.
I recently drove a friend`s Cayenne for a couple of days and `flicked`
several 911s and 944s.. Got no returns. Perhaps, those folk might not
feel that the Cayenne is a legitimate member of the marque. DRLs may
also be a factor there.
Gotta hit the road and get to work as the sun now approacheth the yardarm.

Yes, and the fact that they were brought up thinking that any contact
with strangers is a bad thing and they may be abducted. It`s sad when
you see how the younger group has largely lost the ability to
effectively and outwardly communicate.
It`s darn hard to see someone in any Corvette wave at you when their
windows are rolled up. But, I do and I look at everyone I see to see if
they wave. My experience has been that most do if they see you.

Last "Cars" Post on Wordpress: Title: Declaration of Improper Parking Date: Fri, 25 Sep 2009 14:34:53 +0000 Author: Nathan Schmidt
When in the Course of my normal day, it becomes necessary for one person to consume more resources than anyone else may choose to consume, and to assume my greater importance on this earth, that I have more rights than you to which the Laws of Nature and my God entitle to me, with no respect for other opinions of mankind requires me to declare my superiority of choice over everyone else.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that my need for parking is greater than thou, that I am endowed by my Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are proximity, convenience, and the persistence of apathy. That to secure these rights, I institute my vehicle among others, driving just powers from the tons of steel and plastic, that whenever any parking space could hold my girth, it is my right to take it despite the vehicles around me, and institute my will, for my convenience of consumerism and disorganizing others, so that I may be most happy. Prudence, indeed, is lost on my will long established should not be changed for guilt or logic; and accordingly all entitlement hath shewn, that mankind is disposed to suffer, for my evils are insufferable, than to park in another spot by eliminating my convenience to which I am obviously entitled. But when a long train of cars and trucks, pursuing invariably the same intent evinces a wrath to extremes, where it is my right, it is my sole entitlement, to throw out common courtesy and decency, to create my own opportunities, and provide new parking for my needs. Such has been the impatience and greed of my life; and now is the necessity of my ego which constrains me to do nothing else other than my own choosing. The history of my fenders and doors is displayed in dents and dings, all having direct consequence of my actions of absolute superiority over a parking lot. To prove this, I dare you to park next to me.
