It looks like a little filter, about the size of a pen cap. I`ve seen it in
Mid America Corvette as part of a tune up kit.

I think that it is a part that was used on pre 85 models. They are found on
almost all C3s. The air filter in that picture on the MA website is
definitely from a crossfire motor, not an L98 TPI. If it is a part on mine
it`s still there from the factory and still working.
