the L48 has a two bolt main the L82 has a 4 bolt main. The L82 is a slightly
better made engine and had more hp. To be honest though the old Vette
engines left a lot to be desired in the HP dept. I had two L48 Vettes (a 77
and a 80) they drove fine and were OK cars. If you plan on hot rodding the
car the L82 is a better engine to start from. If I remember correctly the
L82 had better connecting rods and better crank too.

My 79 L82 is rated at 225hp the same year L48 is rated at 195. Also the L82
has aluminum intake and valve covers a Double snorkle air breather a 4 bolt
main and a different camshaft. Roger
