Would someone please explain for me the differences between a Corvette
designated as L82 and one of the same year designated as L48? Thank you.

The L48 is the base engine... with lower horsepower...then the extrra cost,

L82...
Generally about 30 Hp difference between the two..

the L48 has a two bolt main the L82 has a 4 bolt main. The L82 is a slightly
better made engine and had more hp. To be honest though the old Vette
engines left a lot to be desired in the HP dept. I had two L48 Vettes (a 77
and a 80) they drove fine and were OK cars. If you plan on hot rodding the
car the L82 is a better engine to start from. If I remember correctly the
L82 had better connecting rods and better crank too.
